Short answer- Work on your anatomy a ton. Quick gesture drawings for dynamic posing and flow.Slow analytical study of hard anatomy (bone structure, muscle structure, etc,.)

Long Answer- I get asked sometimes by random strangers and friends for critique and help but I never really know how to describe what is bad in their pictures as it's hard for me to detail what is wrong with words/ My best way is to just red line over and just try to show what is wrong.

This morning :iconfantasyrebirth96: noted me, asking for help on his pictures and gave me a few to look at to comment about. Instead of spending an hour my time, i felt like it was a lot easier to just redline it and deconstruct what is drawn and then redraw the pose that I think they were trying to go for.

Biggest thing i can point out is that the poses are very straight and stiff. A human at rest still always have some  level of flow and ease to their structure. Probably easiest way to think of the flow is how the spine is. Even standing straight up, the spine is at a curve and usually have an "s" shaped curve.

If you are trying to pose the hand to hold a long object, in your roughs its a good idea to just draw a straight line where you want the long object to be and then draw the hand gripping that long line. then you can work in the sword or fishing pole or stick better after :)

In the end though, the anatomy is really all over the place and inconsistent. You might want to emulate your favorite art style but you should also spend time learning actual anatomy and do some figure drawing practice. It is a grind to just sit  down and draw things you don't have interest in but it can make the things you want to learn "click" more. Also since anime is a super simplified representation of the body, it's best to try and imitate teh source image rather than the second or 3rd generation of the source image :3. tackling your art studies from multiple fronts rather than just one will aid you a ton~

line-of-action.com/  you can go here for the same practice exercises I use when im working on my foundation

I hope this helps you :iconfantasyrebirth96: And never be afraid or timid to ask the people you like for advice :). It never hurts to ask and you never know what a shot in the dark can get you :P
